Vissla Men's Boardshorts: Eco Surf Boardshorts Built from What's Left Behind
Vissla men's boardshorts start from one idea: a great pair of surf boardshorts shouldn't cost the ocean. Across the range we use upcycled coconut-husk polyester, Repreve recycled plastic content and PFC-free DWR water repellency, cutting out harmful fluorocarbons while keeping the stretch, fit and durability surfers actually ask for. Every pair is built with 4-way stretch fabric so nothing holds back your movement, paddle or pop-up. Choose your coverage across short, mid and longer outseams in a handful of distinct silhouettes.
What Makes Vissla Boardshorts Different
Upcycled coconut-husk polyester takes agricultural waste that would head to landfill and turns it into a high-performance surf fabric. Repreve converts post-consumer plastic bottles, roughly five to seven per pair, into stretch fabric without reaching for virgin synthetics. PFC-free DWR keeps water beading off the surface without releasing PFAS chemicals into the rivers and seas we surf. These are eco-credentials built into every stage of production, not marketing language bolted onto an ordinary short.
Types of Vissla Boardshorts
- Fixed Waist Boardshorts: The classic button-and-lace closure. The surf standard, with a locked-in fit that stays put through wipeouts, duck dives and the odd air. The everyday choice for committed surfing.
- Eco-Lastics: An elastic-waistband build. The all-day boardshort that takes you from car park to line-up with no adjusting, in the same 4-way stretch and eco-materials with an easy pull-on fit.
- Lightweight Performance Boardshorts: Ultra-light, perforated construction made for warmer water and travel, where airflow and quick-dry are the whole point.
- Artist Collaboration Boardshorts: Our Creators and Innovators programme brings limited seasonal prints from artists rooted in the surf world.
Outseam Lengths Explained
- 16.5 inch: Retro length with maximum leg freedom. Favoured by longboarders and style-minded surfers who never quite left the seventies behind.
- 17.5 inch: Competition length. A shorter, performance-led cut for surfers who want zero fabric drag above the knee.
- 18.5 inch: The all-rounder. Balanced coverage that suits most surfers across most conditions.
- 20 to 21 inch: Longer-length coverage that sits past the knee for surfers who prefer more length and a little extra sun protection.
